We track the number of people convicted in politically motivated cases and the sentences handed down to them. This page provides information about sentences, terms of punishment, and the distribution of sentences by year and article of the Criminal Code.
Types of sentences
This chart shows the main types of sentences and the number of defendants to whom they were issued.
A sentence may include both the main and an additional type of punishment, so the same defendant may be included in the count of different types of sentences.
This chart shows that the majority of sentences issued to defendants in anti-war cases include imprisonment.
Prison sentences
This chart shows details for prison sentences. The cases are shown by type of confinement regime and length of their sentences.
Using the filters, we can see, for example, how the number of sentences with a strict regime has increased over the years.
Fines and prison sentences ranged by category
These charts show:
- the number of people by categories of sentences (fines or prison sentences);
- the change in the number of defendants with a particular sentencing category by the year the sentence was handed down.
Using the filters, we can see, for example, how the number of sentences with a term of seven to ten years has increased sharply since 2022.
